Worship and prayer before the Eucharist: To reaffirm the centrality of Jesus in the life of the Church and in this World Meeting of Families. The Eucharistic Adoration at the Duomo on Friday, 1 June is one of the main celebrations taking place during Family 2012. It is scheduled for 9:30 pm at the Duomo and – simultaneously - in many churches and parishes throughout the six pastoral zones of the diocese of Milan as well as some Lombardy parishes.

Adoration of the Blesed Sacrament in the Milan Duomo will be presided over by Cardinal Ennio Antonelli, President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, with the presence of the bishops of the areas hardest hit by the earthquake: Their Excellencies Roberto Busti, Bishop of Mantua, Antonio Lanfranchi, Bishop of Modena, Paul Rabitti, Bishop of Ferrara and Francesco Cabina, Bishop of Carpi.

The Eucharistic Adoration shares the same central theme as that of the World Meeting as a whole: “Family: Work and Celebration.” “It is going to be a very simple celebration, “explains Monsignor Claudio Magnoli, Service Director for the pastoral liturgy of the diocese of Milan, and curator of the celebration theme. “The initial presenting of the Eucharist will be followed by three “scenes” inspired by the World Meeting preparatory catecheses. The first is titled, “The Secret of Nazareth” (first catechesis), the second, “Work, a resource for the Family” (sixth catechesis), and the third, “Celebration, a time for the Lord” (ninth catechesis). Entry to the Duomo is free and subject to availability of seats.
