GOOD FRIDAY:“They took Jesus, and, carrying the cross himself, he went out to what is called the Place of the Skull, in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others.” (John 19: 16-18)

Jesus had been betrayed, arrested, mistreated, denied, condemned, and taken by the ones who would carry out the sentence, bearing the cross.  However, John emphasizes that “He went out to what is called the Place of the Skull”.  Yet again the Master and Lord indicates the road to take.  The geographical location is not important, but only the attitude of following.  We take up our own cross and follow Jesus.

Daily we walk this personal Way of the Cross.  Today we are invited in a special way to follow Jesus, to raise our eyes to our crucified Lord, to remain beneath His cross and profess our faith.  The Crucified is our Savior.  With His Cross and Resurrection, He has redeemed the world!

Today in my pause for silent contemplation, I will spend time in the company of my Crucified Lord, adoring Him, thanking Him, renewing my faith in Him and His Promises.
