Bishop Kevin Vann: "Neocatechumenal Way met with me to present their international Year of Faith Outreach called, The Great Mission"

"I wanted to let you know that the national and local leadership of the Neocatechumenal Way met with me to present their international Year of Faith Outreach called, The Great Mission. Nine public locations here in Orange have been secured to hold a type of street preaching in the public square to evangelize folks not usually found in our churches. I have given my approval for this to occur in our diocese. At the same time, this will be occurring in San Bernardino and Los Angeles. It is noteworthy that Pope Francis has also approved this for Rome and will give the leaders his blessing in early April before they embark on this evangelizing mission. I will be meeting with many members of the neo-catechumenate movement on April 6 and will be blessing the leaders of our local area who begin their outreach on April 7.

The flyers they will pass out are included below, as well as the locations that will be used in Orange County. I wanted you to be aware of this dynamic and organized effort that may impact our parishes. Some people may not want to follow through with the intense 5 week program planned but may return to their local parish in search of a welcoming home. It is my hope that you will have your front office staff ready to greet and welcome them back and have someone in place who can oversee this hospitality and follow up with any inquirers.

Thank you for all that you do to lead our Church here in Orange and for the example of faith and charity that you provide each and every day."
