“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away. Behold, I make all things new.” (Revelation 21: 1-5)

The horizon for those who believe in the Lord Jesus and in His revelation in Sacred Scripture is truly radiant.  Hope inundates it like the sun and gives a sense of well-being to everything.  This is what the sacred author tells us with the tender expressions of a God who wipes away every tear. It produces ripples of consolation in our heart.  What immediately follows, telling us that death, mourning, wailing, and pain will be no more, places the Christian in the condition to continually breathe theological hope.

God tells us that He will renew all things, the entire face of the earth.  This gives us the winning card over any meaninglessness and depression.  Psalm 25 affirms that life is very short.  However, we must understand that reality does not end; it is only transformed into the infinite joy of eternal day as the Scriptures teach us.
Today in my pause for silent contemplation, I will dwell on the thought of Heaven, of an eternity with the God I have encountered in life.  This will more than make up for any suffering I have endured.

..."Lord, keep my gaze fixed on You and the eternal future You have promised me"
