Bishop Berg Ordained and Installed the Fifth Bishop of Pueblo

Msgr. Stephen Berg was ordained and installed the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Pueblo on February 27 in front of a packed crowd in Pueblo’s historic Memorial Hall. It was also televised on Pueblo’s local station and streamed live on the internet for countless others across the country to view. The recorded broadcast will air on EWTN on March 3.

The Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, or Pope Francis' representative, Most Reverend Carlo Maria Vigano, read the papal bull of Berg's appointment as bishop of Pueblo. Reverend Matthew Wertin, chancellor, presented the bull to the college of consultors of the diocese.

During the rite of ordination, then Bishop-Elect Berg was examined with a series of questions about his willingness to exercise the duties of his office. Berg then laid prostrate during the Litany of Saints followed by the laying on of hands.

Most Reverend Samuel Aquila, archbishop of Denver was the principal consecrator along with Most Reverend Michael Sheridan, bishop of the Diocese of Colorado Springs and former apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Pueblo and Most Reverend Joseph Charron, emeritus bishop of the Diocese of Des Moines and uncle to Bishop Berg.
